About Sistahs 4 Sistahs:

Mission Statement

Open to any Lesbian or Bisexual Woman Of Colour whether working, retired or self-unemployed.
To provide a place for Lesbian and Bisexual W.O.C to build business relationships, friendships and networks and promote talents.
To offer a forum for discussion, advice and guidance, learning and teaching.
To advertise jobs, experiences and opportunities.
To give support, recognition, acknowledgement, respect and identification to Lesbian and Bisexual WOC in business, life & experiences.

The idea for the Sistahs 4 Sistahs site came from discussions with many Lesbian WOC who had, for one reason or another, tried to find other Lesbian W.O.C to work with or learn from.

This site is not just for Lesbian W.O.C who own or run their own business. Our services are available to those who are unemployed, self-unemployed, retired, looking for work and experiences or just in need of a place to promote their talents.

This site does not encourage racial segregation. It should be seen and used simply as a tool for those women who feel a need (for whatever reason) to work with other Lesbian and bisexual women from a black, African, Caribbean, Asian or mixed-raced heritage, society or culture.

Yes, there are many websites offering business networking opportunities to lesbians but none are specific to our societies and cultures. In fact, the need arose in the development of this site – simply, we were looking for someone who could implement a database - but with the total understanding for the need for a website such as this.

Also, the majority of other lesbian business websites list companies that advertise themselves as “lesbian or gay friendly”. Say you were to book a hotel in Brighton, for instance, wouldn't you want to know that the hotel was actually run by a lesbian and not just someone who says they are “lesbian friendly” in order to increase it’s customer base?

And so, Sistahs 4 Sistahs was born, with the unyielding intention of not just providing a directory of potential employers and employees, but of activating effective and successful online and face-to-face networking opportunities.

With this in mind, we encourage all of you who find this site useful, to replenish and expand it’s wealth by returning with information and stories of your own experiences, advice and knowledge or career opportunities, as well as attending the meetings that will in time, be available in your area.
