Holistic Massage Therapist
(Business Owner)
Business
Type: Holistic
Therapies
Business Location: London
How long have you
been in your profession?
4 years
What made you choose
this career?
Its one of my purposes in life and I have always had a profound
interest in the healing world.
What training/qualifications
did you have to have?
Depending on where you study the training can be from 8
months to a year to gain a full ITEC Dip in Holistic body
massage and Anatomy and Physiology.
What advice would you give to someone wishing to
follow this career?
I would say go and study massage to gain the qualifications
to practice. It can also take several months to a year to
get yourself established and to have regular clients.
It can be hard in the beginning to get clients so one has
to market and advertise as much as possible.
With determination it can be done!
What’s the best and worst thing about your
job?
It's a lovely feeling when I have just finish a massage
and the person expresses their feeling of total relaxation
or that the initial pain they had in a specific part of
the body is now not apparent.
The worse thing is when I have a really quiet day and so
end up waiting around for clients to call me.
What’s a typical day like
in your job?
Very laid back. I prepare my treatment room which
only involves setting up my massage couch and burning lovely
oils to create a relaxing atmosphere.
Generally 15mins before the client arrives I spend that
time in meditation/visualization to create a 'protective
coating' around myself as one can take on others negative
energy during the treatment.
What do you hope to gain from
the Sistahs 4 Sistahs website?
I would say a sense of support and encouragement
and the sharing of ideas and experiences.
I would also like to be able to meet up once in a while
with other women as a group to discuss and share these ideas
and experiences.
